❓
Common questions
Short answers to the things we get asked the most.
Is Boy Girl Game really free? +
Yes. You get three free games a day with a full account. Premium is an optional £0.99/month subscription that unlocks unlimited games and AI-powered answer validation. There are no ads, ever.
What age is it for? +
Designed for kids aged 6 and up. The interface uses big buttons, friendly colours, and avoids the "level up to unlock fun" trap. Parents and families are welcome to play together too.
Can my child play without giving an email? +
Yes. They can play as a Guest with just a display name. Guest progress doesn't save between sessions though. If they want to keep their coins and stats, they (or you) can upgrade to a full account at any time.
Is the chat safe? +
Every chat message passes through a content filter before any other player sees it. Display names get the same check. Players can report each other in two taps. Repeated violations result in an automatic mute. Chat is also visible to everyone in the room. No private DMs with strangers.
Do you store personal data? +
Only what we need: an email (for login and password resets), a display name, and your game history. We never sell your data, we don't serve ads, and we don't use any third-party trackers. Read our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
What does Premium give me? +
Unlimited games per day, AI answer validation (so the room admin doesn't have to manually accept or reject every answer), and the warm feeling of supporting an independent kid-safe app. That's it. No exclusive cosmetics, no pay-to-win.
How do I cancel Premium? +
Open the Premium page from your account, tap "Manage Subscription", and cancel from your Stripe billing portal. You keep Premium until the end of the current billing period. No questions, no retention loop.
Can I play on mobile? +
Yes. There's a native Android and iOS app on the way. In the meantime, the website works great on phones and tablets. The whole thing is designed mobile-first.
Why "Boy Girl"? +
The classic Scattergories-style game we grew up with always had Boy and Girl name categories. We kept the name as a nod to that. The actual categories are configurable per room.
I found a bug. Where do I report it? +
Send a note to no-reply@boy-girl.co.uk and we'll take a look. Include your account email so we can find your session in the logs.
